Multimedia (Level 5)
Overview
This is a one year programme progressing to Multimedia FETAC Level 6. It covers Web & Internet technology, Digital Video and Audio, Graphics and Animation as well as general studies subjects. Students learn how to design, develop and produce web sites complying with the latest standards and technologies. They develop interactive CD’s, video advertising and video projects for presentation on DVD’s and web sites. In graphics and animation students learn the art of design, image manipulation and development and animation design and development.
Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate (5 passes) or equivalent
Applicants of mature years will be considered on their merits

Multimedia Department Facilities
The Multimedia Department is equipped with the very latest software and hardware. Facilities include Apple G5 computers with wide screen Apple monitors, digital video cameras, digital still cameras, scanners, colour laser printers and sound recording equipment.
Software products used on the course include Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, Director MX, Apple Final Cut Pro, Merlin Project Management, DVD Studio Pro and many more.
The Multimedia Department has it’s own web site for showcasing student work, maintains an Apple XServe server and has a wireless network in the multimedia lab for students own laptops.
All multimedia students are provided with a college e-mail address facilitating the distribution of course notes, course work, the submission of projects etc.

Progression
On successful achievement of FETAC Level 5 students may progress to Multimedia FETAC Level 6.
