Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate (5 passes)
Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent
Applicants of mature years will be considered on their merits
All applicants are interviewed and they should bring between five and ten examples of their own creative work.

There is a very high rate of students progression to Art & Design Colleges both in Ireland and internationally
Students may apply to a range of Higher Education Institutions through the Higher Education Links Schemes
Students have access to one to one guidance on further education opportunities and portfolio preparation.
The course content is designed to assist students to prepare portfolios with a strong individual and creative content.
Student’s may apply for the reserved places on the Fine Art course in the Crawford college/ CIT through the CCPS progression scheme.
Course Outline
The course content is designed to offer the student the opportunity to explore their creativity in a variety of media and forms so they can discover what their artistic and design strength are.
During the course students work on projects about the human form, objects, spaces and landscapes as well as exploring subject matter of a personal interest in the following areas.
- Art
- Drawing (including Life Drawing with models)
- Painting
- Art Appreciation
- Sculpture(including assemblage and ceramics)
- Combined Materials – Mixed Media & Fiber Art
- Craft / applied art
- Woodcraft (Wood carving)
- Jewellery* design and making, and Art metal craft
- Design
- Graphic Design* & Computer Graphics
- Digital Photography
Individual Portfolio Preparation and career guidance.

*Students may have the option of doing Jewellery or Graphic design
Duration
One-year full time
A second year option is available in Painting and professional Arts Practice – FETAC level 6 (subject to demand).
